Inspired Pet Nutrition (“IPN”) is a branded pet food business who were looking to make one of its first critical hires of a Chief Commercial Officer (“CCO”) following its acquisition by CapVest from L Catterton. The CEO (James Lawson) was looking to place a CCO into the business to lead with scaling up IPN’s sales, business development, partnerships and account management through retailers, third-party sellers and direct-to-consumer, across the UK & Export markets. Throughout the search process, DRAX utilised the Leadership Dynamics behavioural analytics tool PACE on all shortlisted candidates.
While presenting the shortlisted candidate PACE profiles, James decided to put IPN’s entire senior leadership team through the PACE evaluation tool to map out their team behaviours and evaluate how the future CCO would incorporate and fit within the team. Upon completion of the assessment, each individual received a detailed report on their PACE insights and a 1-2-1 personal feedback session. This was followed by a meeting at CapVest for IPN’s monthly board meeting along with IPN’s senior leadership team, whereby the individual insights were brought together to assess leadership team behavioural dynamics. By aligning behavioural roles that individuals play within the team alongside the PACE insights, an in-depth dialogue took place around the behavioural and cognitive diversity within the team, providing a well-rounded view of how IPN can work best together to achieve its value creation plan.
Following the successful completion of PACE for both the IPN and CapVest leadership teams, and comparing the shortlisted candidates’ profiles, Fiona Fox was eventually placed as the new CCO within the business. She was supported on her onboarding around her own PACE insights, and how she can connect with and complement the IPN team.
