Private equity firm Inflexion has acquired Marley, a UK roofing business. It bought the business from Etex, a building materials firm based in Belgium which has owned Marley since 1999. Marley was founded in 1924 and manufactures and supplies roofing system products, including concrete and clay tiles and roofing accessories. The business is based in Staffordshire and employs 600 people across five manufacturing sites and two distribution centres. Its products are used for new build, repair, maintenance and improvement. David Speakman, General Manager of Marley, said: “Inflexion’s industry knowledge gleaned through its investment in builders merchants Huws Gray means they truly understand our sector, while their experience in helping expand businesses organically and acquisitively make them an excellent fit for our next stage of growth.” Simon Turner, Managing Partner, Inflexion, added: “The brand is exceptionally well regarded, and we look forward to drawing upon our industry experience as we partner with management to build on Marley’s strong market position and product range.”
